Description
The Magpie is a type of Crow. They are highly adaptable omnivores eating insects, carrion, seeds, fruits, and small mammals/birds. They are known for collecting shiny objects and can be found in urban areas, woodlands, and farmland. When seen close up you can see that its’ black plummage has a blue sheen to the wing feathers. They have a 44-46 cm length and 52-60 cm wingspan and can weigh up to 250g. They are among the most intelligent animals, capable of recognizing themselves in mirrors, using tools, and working in teams. They build large, conspicuous, domed nests in trees, usually breeding in spring.
