Description
Beluga whales are highly social, white Arctic cetaceans known as “sea canaries” for their singing like sounds. They possess a flexible neck, lack a dorsal fin for easier navigation under ice and use a bulbous forehead “melon” for echolocation. They can grow 13–20 feet and weigh up to 1.5 tons. They are carnivores that feed on fish and crustaceans.
They can be found worldwide.
